Places – City Road occupies a 70-year-old former factory that had deteriorated over time, presenting a bare-shell starting point for the fitout. Biuro undertook substantial upgrade works to transform the space into a contemporary co-working hub with open workspace zones, integrated planting, breakout areas and private meeting rooms. The design intent focused on creating a light-filled, flexible environment suited to a broad mix of users.

The scope included the installation of glazed partition suites, concrete floor grinding, and a complete ceiling replacement to accommodate new services. Amenities were fully upgraded, and mechanical systems were overhauled to support the building’s revised occupancy and comfort requirements. Working within an ageing structure required careful coordination of services, remediation works and build sequencing, resulting in a modern, functional workspace that brings new life to an industrial shell.
